Dear Art Enthusiast,
Summer gives me the opportunity to paint outside and do some traveling but I really don’t need to go far to find inspiration. Lately, I have been painting in my friend Betty’s large perennial garden. It is a joy. I like this quote by Paul Cezanne, “Painting from nature is not copying the object; it is realizing one’s sensations.” My goal is to always paint an honest depiction of the chosen subject. I also use my artistic license to paint it in a way so that the viewer can appreciate the beauty and be left with a feeling of pleasure.
Featured below are two recent garden plein air paintings and a painting from my trip to England, “Bourton-On-The-Water II” in the Cotswolds. “Cove in Morning” is a pastel painted from the plein air work “Christmas Cove” which is now exhibited at Treeline Gallery in Suttons Bay. Christmas Cove is located north on Leelanau Peninsula.
My next show is Ann Arbor’s South University Art Fair, July 15-18. My booth is on South University Street #84. For more information about this Art Fair see www.a2southu.com. If you have not yet been to the Ann Arbor Art Fair, plan on at least one long day and even then you won’t see it all. A convenient shuttle bus takes fair goers from the High School and the Mall so parking is not a problem. Hope to see you there!
Warm Regards,
Kathleen |
